During the last few years the Barton Tourism Partnership have hosted a series of free Sunday performances in Baysgarth Park, on the grassy area in the front of Baysgarth House. All the performances usually started at 2pm and are perfect for people to watch whilst having a picnic.
It has now become customary for Barton town Band to kick off the performances, usually with a splendid concert and hopefully on a lovely dry day. Then usually every two weeks another performance is held. These are designed to appeal to all ages and all tastes and have included such acts as Quinteto Mambo Jambo, the Doghouse Skiffle Group, Pendle Productions "The Dragon who lost his Home", Black Umfolosi 5 (who were so popular have held another performance a few years later), John Conolly, the Fairly Famous Family, the North Star Steel Orchestra, the Roy Norton Quintet, Heartbreak Productions "The Railway Children, Gastronomic" performed by the Hoodwink Theatre, the Storytellers Theatre Company the "Wind in the Willows", Robin Hood (the play not the person), "Wind in the Willows" by Illyria, Pluck, The Real Macaws and "The Hound of the Baskervilles" which was held at Thornton Abbey.
These performances are ideal for families and have plenty of space for children to play, parents to relax, and acts to perform. The park has ample room so there is always space available for anyone who would like a Sunday afternoon that doesn't cost a fortune but is packed with enjoyment.
