Barton Dolphins

Swimming Club for People with Disabilities

What the Barton Dolphins are:-

We are a swimming club that has recently been formed in Barton for people with any form of disability.
Barton Dolphins use Baysgarth Leisure Centre every Thursday evening from approx 7pm - 8pm to allow their members to have a relaxing and healthy swim. There is no age limit to becoming a member whether you're a child or pensioner. We would welcome anyone who has a disability or is recovering from an illness, even if you use a wheelchair.

There is a hoist at the pool to lower you into and out of the pool if you need it for any reason and lifeguards will do this for you. If you need any other equipment such as rings or floats etc, just let us know and we will sort this out.

Currently the charges are 5 membership per year and 1 each week that you visit the Barton Dolphins. Also, helpers can come in for free, but if they wish they can pay the 1 charge (it all helps!)

If interested, please contact Lynne Oliver - (01652 636654)

Disabilities can include:-

Cancer : Diabetes : Multiple Sclerosis
Heart conditions : Celebral Palsy : Paralysis
Asthma : Epilepsy : Arthritis
Blindness : Deafness : Learning Disabilities

Barton Dolphins is .....

..... a swimming club that has been formed for people with any form of disability or disadvantage. We meet at Baysgarth Pool, Barton every Thursday evening so our members can have a relaxing and healthy swim. Swimming sessions are split in two - the first session for children under 16 is from 6.45pm - 7.30pm and the second session for adults is from 7.15pm to 8.15pm. There is no age limit to becoming a member whether you're a child or a pensioner. We would welcome anyone who has a disability or is recovering from an illness, if you use a wheelchair or are an amputee.

There is a hoist at the pool to lower you into and out of the pool if you need it and the pool's lifeguards will do this for you. If you need any other equipment such as rings or floats etc, just let us know and we will sort this out.

Currently, we charge 5 membership per year and 1 each week that you swim with Barton Dolphins. Also, helpers can come in for free, but if they wish they can donate the 1 too, it all helps! Regular social evenings are organised throughout the year.

If you are interested in joining us - either as a swimmer or as a helper or as a 'hands on' member of the committee - please contact the Club secretary, Lynne Oliver on (01652) 636654, the Club Treasurer, Alison Clayton on (01652) 635035 or the chair, Colin Bell, on (01652) 632338.
